Brakes are an important part of your car’s safety systems, and if they need replacing, it’s important to take notice before it’s too late.

Although there are many warning signs that your brakes need replacement, here are five of the most common ones you should be aware of.

If your brakes are squeaking 🔊

The sound of squeaky brakes is a safety hazard and should be taken care of as soon as possible. This may not seem urgent, but it’s important to keep your brakes in good condition because if you wait too long, the problem will only get worse.

A squeaky brake means there’s an issue with either the pads or calipers and it needs to be replaced. There are some telltale signs that your brakes need to be fixed

If you have low brake fluid 💧

Car maintenance is something that you should be checking on every week. Don’t wait until your car breaks down on the side of the road to realize that your car needed some serious work.

Low brake fluid is a sign of bad car maintenance habits and your brakes need to be replaced ASAP if this warning sign occurs.

If your front rotors are warped ⚡

Your front rotors are warped if you notice abnormal vibration and if the vehicle pulls to one side when braking. If your front rotors are warped, it’s time for new ones.

Auto repair shops can do this in about an hour and a half on average. It’s also wise to have your mechanic check your brake pads to make sure that they’re not worn down past the point of being useful.

If you notice uneven wear on the pads 🚙

The first sign that you may need to replace your brakes is uneven wear on the pads. Take a look at the pad and make sure it has a smooth surface. If the surface looks uneven or rough, it’s time to get new brake pads.

When your car starts making strange sounds: Next up is when your car starts making strange noises like scraping, squealing, or squeaking. Even if these noises are just small, don’t ignore them.

If your brake pedal pulsates ⛔

Your brakes could be defective or it could just be an issue with your brake pads. If you notice a pulsing sensation when you push on the brake pedal, make sure to get them checked immediately to avoid any safety issues.

You may need to replace the brake pads or even the calipers depending on what’s wrong.
