Summer cleaning is here, and that includes our vehicles!
It’s so great to finally have some warmer weather and open up the windows and let in some fresh air. And the same applies to our vehicles as well.
Here a few tips to keep in mind when cleaning out your car:
1. Clean Surfaces 🧹
Wipe down the dashboard, console, and seats with a damp cloth. Not only will it look better, but a dust-free vehicle is also a safer vehicle. Afterwards, a good vacuum (use a commercial one at a local facility) should do the trick!
2. Get Organized 📦
After the winter, our vehicles probably have some extra items that we don’t need for a while. Now’s a good time to clean up your space and remove the distractions. It’ll be easier to keep clean, too!
3. Windows & Mirrors 😎
A dirty windshield can lead to much bigger problems, so we definitely recommend adding this to your list. But, it’s best to avoid “glass cleaners” and opt for something without ammonia, as they can be a bit harsh for vehicle glass. Then follow up with a microfiber cloth to kick streaks to the curb.
4. Trunk & Under The Hood 🚗
Now’s a good time to check on your spare tire, as well as remove any extra items in the trunk. Also check under the hood for leaves and any missing, worn, or broken items.
5. Wheels & Tires 🛣
When cleaning wheels and tires, a power washer and a good brush should do the trick. And after the winter, salt and sand can leave their mark and cause problems if not cleaned off. We also recommend giving the underbody of the vehicle a good rinse while you’re at it!
6. Tire Pressure, Battery, Wiper Blades & Fluids 🔋
After a thorough cleaning, we also recommend checking a few of the important maintenance items of your vehicle that can be effected after the winter season. This means checking and adjusting tire pressure, having your battery checked, topping off essential fluids, and replacing old wiper blades. Regular maintenance will help you stay safer on the road and keep your vehicle in better condition for years to come.
